Red Raspberry Jam

Updated: Aug 3, 2023

So back in March of 2009 on a Friday evening all of a sudden I came down with a bad case of vertigo. I never had vertigo before or since. Now at that point in my life I’m the team manager of my sons soccer team and we are suppose to play the next day. The vertigo was so bad that all I can do is lay on the couch in the living room and breathe and try not to even think.

My wife at the time had to take my son to the soccer game. When I tried to get up to go to the bathroom I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to throw up. It hurt to think! That was probably the quietest that my mind has ever been at that point in my life. Thoughts hurt!

Eventually the symptoms started to subside and I was able to take my kids to school on Monday morning but I probably was the safest driver in the world because I didn’t want the vertigo to come back so while I’m driving I I would focus on power poles and anything that was not moving.

Now Tuesday evening I had signed up for a yoga class we were going to have a guest from New York that was going to lead the class. He had us do a visualization exercise where you close your eyes and try to connect with what you feel is your God or your connection to the divine. So I’m thinking this never really works for me but what the hell I’ll play. Now mind you my mind is still very quiet I’m very present in the moment. So I close my eyes and go with the exercise and follow the instructions. So what I saw was red raspberry jam. The dark thick kind with the seeds. The instructor has us open our eyes and he then asks everyone in the class what did you see? When it was turn I said I saw red raspberry jam. He kind of looks at me and thinks I’m a fruit cake and the class chuckles.

I at that point really didn’t care.

I come home and open my fridge and what do I see is this large jar of the dark red raspberry jam with the seeds. Now mind you I usually would do a lot of the grocery shopping and I’m the one that would but by red raspberry jam because it’s my favorite but wouldn’t have bout such a huge jar. So I kind of thought that’s weird and very coincidental. I shrugged it off. Now it got weirder a couple weeks later reading an article whose headline catches my eye because since childhood I have been fascinated by space and astronomy. The article said that scientists have discovered that the center of the Milky Way galaxy smells like rum and tastes like raspberries.
